The name “DALL-E” is a combination of two popular cultural icons, Salvador Dali and the character Wall-E from the Pixar movie of the same name. The name is intended to represent the model’s ability to create surreal and imaginative images from textual descriptions, similar to the work of Dali, and its capability to interact with humans and understand human emotions, like Wall-E.
